Fix for “Ninja crashes with a workspace open then takes forever to load”

#1

In Ninja trader there is a file you can delete if your Ninja is stuck loading. Sometimes when it crashes it leaves an open workspace which can cause the hang up. If you look in your documents folder you will see a folder for Ninja7. Look inside Ninja7 folder and you will see a folder called workspaces. Inside the workspaces folder is a file called workspaces.xml Delete it. Then clear cache and reboot. Start up Ninja and it should load fine. Ninja will create a new workspaces.xml file when you close your next session. It’s also a good idea to check and make sure you have closed all your workspaces and are on a blank workspace when you shut down Ninja. Then make sure to answer “yes to all” when you exit Ninja

Yes go to documenrs ninjatrader workspacwes and delete workspaces.xml

Also make sure to close down with just the easy open woekspace no others.

You may want to reduce to 3 days loaded with all the volatility depending on your processor

Also make sure to not connect to data on startuo

UPDATE to this post below:

Hi Darrell. I was experiencing what I thought was this same problem (“not responding” even when I open workspace prior to connecting to datafeed). I remember you mentioning on one of the sniper training videos that we could also decrease the number of days loaded and remove exclude the expected volume indicator from the chart to shorten the load time.

Which video was this again? I can’t remember. I’m in the middle of fast forwarding through each one of the NinjaTrader setup/datafeed videos to hopefully find that portion where you gave the advice (which is a hassle as they’re all almost 1.5 hours).

In any case, what are some other good tips that will help? I’ve tried deleting the workspace xml file but NT7 still keeps freezing. At best, after connecting to my datafeed, the 60/240 pivot level charts will load just fine, but the diagnostic chart will freeze.

UPDATE:

I’ve deleted both NinjaTrader7 and the apex toolkit and started from scratch. I’ve set up my pivot charts and diagnostic charts. I’ve gone through every step for a third time (even watching the videos just to make sure I didn’t miss anything), right up to the big hurdle: setting up order prints. reloading ninja script has either frozen NT7(“not responding”) or at best, the diagnostic chart will have a big X on it (the pivot charts load just fine).

Any pointers before having a tech support specialist help me? I’m halfway through my free trial (I can pay a dollar for another 30 days… But I wanna take advantage of every second of this, and I feel like I’m wasting my time trying to fix this problem). I’ve tried deleting the Workspace.xml file as I’ve seen on other posts, and that has not worked either.
