A delightful Swiss gentleman, Mr. Jean Rodolphe Luthi, shared his story, at the Trader’s Expo in Las Vegas, with a few Apex and Nadex Traders. He wanted us to know of the experiment he had undertaken in the hopes of showing his relatives how trading Nadex five-minute binaries can pay off.
Mr. Luthi was born in Switzerland, but has called America home for 30 years. He currently claims California as his residence. Last spring while on vacation in Switzerland, he wanted to show his “people”, especially his godson, how anyone could start with a small amount of money and over the course of three weeks, see that money grow.
As Mr. Luthi explained, he would get up and do his normal activities, including going for a walk arriving back home around 3, which, with the time difference gave him time to prepare for the 9:30 AM ET, New York Exchange opening.
He developed his skills in chart reading using the phrase, “Learn to earn with the term” as a guide. One of his basic desires was to find a way for his young godson and others like him, to make $60 to $80 per day before leaving for work. He also wanted to prove that this type of trading could be done in Europe, even while on vacation.
He realized that five-minute binaries are riskier than other markets, but played correctly and with discipline, could bring the results he wanted to see. Starting with just $116, Mr. Luthi would enter each trade as early as possible. He only traded in the money contracts, and would try to enter on the first candle or bar. He knew that if he wasn’t disciplined, one loss would take five trades to make up.
He made sure he was in a good mindset in order to trade productively. He didn’t do too many trades in one day. In fact, after trading for only one hour, he would stop trading completely.
After three weeks of following his system, he saw his initial $116 grow to $660. He could show his godson and other family members how trading for a short amount of time each day, and with a limited amount of money invested, the account size could grow. Sure, it could have been accomplished more quickly, but he wanted to prove it could be done.
At first, Mr. Luthi thought the amount earned was enough to cover his flight from Switzerland to Las Vegas for the Traders Expo, but after some contemplation he admitted maybe not his flight, but it definitely covered the hotel and his expenses.
After meeting with people from Nadex and Apex, Mr. Luthi says he has learned ways to save time and there are more possibilities to win.
