If there is an alternate and you want to compare just add the choppy market warning indicator 2x and set up both - to see which one works best.
ie VIN or VIX on S&P 500 but ideally pick the correct corresponding instrument
However understand you want the volatility indice that corresponds to what you are trading
Like on the S& P 500
There is the SPX Index (with its options)
The SPY ETF with its options)
The ES futures with its options
So if doing futures use VIN If doing indices use VIX
If there is not an ETF one and you are doing an ETF use the indice one.

Reminder: Also though it can be helpful outside of market hours. Its accuracy will be when the CBOE Indice is actually open (usually open outcry hours for that product) to see the hours simply open the symbol ie ^OIV on a 10 minute chart. And give it at least 2 bars to âcatch upâ. So say on oil the strongest most accurate signals wold be 9:20 to 2:30 PM ET.
Trader - i missed the big trade due to choppy market
Any additional filters you add on will risk removing both winning and loosing trades. So you need to evaluate if they elminate more winners than loosers. When those filters are style orientied it will take more time to learn how to use them correctly. Do you mean in relation to the choppy market warning? As this forum thread is regarding the choppy market warning.
If this is what you meann i would use the EURO Currency CBOE Volatility Indice for the Dollar Index as it is a basket of currencies heavily weighted with the EUR.
If you mean as a cross market style indicator please post under style technical analysis and we can explore it further.

Alright I think Iâve finally set this Choppy thingy up. questions.
EVZ is technically for eur/usd - but all fx is interconnected its a big web⊠so i use it on other fx pairs are there are currently not any other iv indices available on the cboe for IV volatility indice currency pairs - (obviously advise testing on other currency pairs if using EVZ as a filter on them)
not sure what you mean on times - i use this mostly during the day - but it does work ok at night as well
Is there a Volatility Index that you can use for Germany 50 (FDAX) and Japan 225?? for Choppy Market warning!!

Try it now Not sure why it was market private we have been marking private some old videos but that one should still be good.
Been trying to get this to work using Kinetick EOD data but not having any success, what iâve been trying goes as follows:
Connect to CQG then Kinetick EOD, and follow the pictures as posted above. I am pulling up the TF using minute bars and enter ^RVX?

This is a intraday indicator you need the intraday minute data subscription to the CBOE volatility indices so EOD wont work.
