Chart setting? YM this past week not quite right, I think

#1

Hi DM,

My performance on YM this past week was not so good, so bad in fact that I would like to check and see if my settings are off in some way.

I’ve set the chart to a 6 bar w/ 2 entry/offset, and updated the toolkit beginning of the week.

I trade straight APEX Elite rules using spreads, no BMX reversals or other “advanced” strategies. As with my last post here in “What did I do wrong”, I am unsure where to draw the line between style and system, so I only take the trades as presented on the chart.

Below is a snapshot of each days trades for the past week. I have gone through on replay and traded the week again, these are my cleaned up notes for review. Could you critique them and compare? Maybe you will see something that is causing all of the unprofitable exits I am experiencing, it is almost like the signals are working in reverse.

All summary totals listed below for each of the days, as well as per trade on the charts do not include bid/ask and fees, as in for this review I’ve only counted the ticks from entry to close to come to these totals for each trade.

10/28 - 4 trades, -$28 on the day 2013-11-01_1706 - Doppelrock’s library

10/29 - 4 trades, -$8 on the day 2013-11-01_1710 - Doppelrock’s library

10/30 - 8 trades, -$10 on the day Morning - 2013-11-01_1712 - Doppelrock’s library

Mid-day - 2013-11-01_1713 - Doppelrock’s library

End of day - 2013-11-01_1715 - Doppelrock’s library

10/31 - 1 trade, +$60 on the day 2013-11-01_1718 - Doppelrock’s library

11/1 - 3 trades, -$23 on the day 2013-11-01_1719 - Doppelrock’s library

Week total comes in at -$9, assuming only ticks are counted. Had I traded in multiples, and totaled up bid/ask with fees, this would be a bummer week.

Is there anything you can see that I can change to make the week positive simply trading elite apex spreads without style, either in technical adjustments of the charts or otherwise?

Thanks DM, and have a great weekend.

Rob

10-28

BMX “style” note that will help - also a missed trade

Missed trade cost $11 in profit - (applying the bmx style taught would have eliminated $30 in loss)

10-29

6bb rule is incorrect -Missed out on $54 in profit on this day so instead of + 8 would be + 62 for the day

6bb only applies if there are less than 6 bars between the e and the x and only goes into force after there are 6 higher highs (if long) or lowers lows (if short) after the E

10-30

choppy day shot up shot down - went sidewards… - only thing on here to point out is the trailing stops have to trail they only happen after the X (or the 6bb whichever is applicable) did not really effect you much on the outcome of the day overall but wanted to point it out for you

10-31

Great trade

2013-11-01_1718 - Doppelrock’s library

11-1

first trade had a bmx so no entry avoided a $11 loss - additional entries where possible - assuming 1 at a time (or only till be or?) would have added enough to basically net out on the day but consistent on 1x a day so no worries

Summary

$11 profit missed BMX “style” ie 1 tick from bmx after hiting level a couple times right at a deviation (+30) (may not have known this one but important to learn 54 profit missed out on due to using 6bb when there where more than 6 bars between e and x $11 Loss avoided BMX

54+11+11 so net add +$76 to your -9 netting out at 67 (if you take out the style bmx lesson still +37

Dow Value 67 ticks* $5 tick $335 Dow value 37 ticks * $5 tick = $185

Not the best results but not a horrible week
