I know its usefulness on the entry side, But have couple of question on the exit. If I engage it on the entry side, am I effectively exiting the trade with no profit/loss consequences. Or does engaging it on the exit side automatically sell/buy at the current market price, resulting in some level of profit/loss. this would be as opposed to using the basic ticket to buy/sell when its time to exit.

Correct. You can use it for both entry and exit and it will open or close at the price in that instant.
Of course you can also use the NADEX ticket to close at a specific profit level and also you can use the stop trigger feature of the scanner to place both profit and stop loss orders as well.
