I was curious as to what news effects indicies, and what you guys watch out for when analyzing them?
News events that effect the Indices are listed on the news Calendar under the “News” tab of the website. We usually put trade recommendations as well for news events that have a bigger effect on the market. There is also a video under the calendar titled " How to Trade news Events"
The issue with Indices in general is they do not have a consistent impact from News. So trading indices on news is not as effective as one might hope it would be.
How would I prepare for a news event then? If say something like the fomc were to come out tomorrow. Since I don’t know how far it were to move. Would I just be aware of the even and make sure my hedges fired?
Hedge off the position, take profit, or get out, don’t enter. When FOMC happens you basically need to know what and why your doing something or be out of the way.
