Requirements
- NinjaTrader 7™ Release 27 or later
- Click the above link to download the platform for free.
- NinjaTrader FXCM valid account
- Click the above link to request a Free Demo Account
- NinjaTrader FXCM account user name and password
- Note: These will be sent to you via email after registering with the above link.
Connection Configuration Instructions
- NinjaTrader™ must be installed
- Start NinjaTrader™
- From the Control Center window, select the menu “Tools > Account Connections…”
- In the Account Connection Set Up window, press the “Add…” button
- The Connection Wizard will appear. Press the “Next >” button.
- As per the image below
- Connection name: Create a name to identify your connection
- Provider: Select “NinjaTrader FXCM” from the list
- Backup data feed connection: Select your backup data feed or leave as “”
- Connect on startup: Enable if you want NinjaTrader™ to automatically establish a connection on startup
- Historical Data: For optimal performance, select “Use NinjaTrader™ servers”
- Press the “Next>” button
- As per the image below:
- Enter your NinjaTrader FXCM account user name and password.
- If your account is a demo account check the “Demo” option.
- Press the “Next >” button followed by the “Finish” button to complete configuring your NinjaTrader FXCM account.
- To connect to your account, go to the NinjaTrader™ Control Center window, select the menu “File > Connect” and select your account. Once connected in the lower left hand corner you will see “Connected- NinjaTrader FXCM” highlighted in green.

- Chart data is driven from the current bid price.
- For positions that are scaled in, when exiting, Ninjatrader FXCM will report multiple executions to match the scale in executions.
- Connection losses to NinjaTrader FXCM are only reported 1m30s after the fact from the NinjaTrader FXCM API. It is possible to already be disconnected from NinjaTrader FXCM, but have NinjaTrader™ not aware of this.
- Using the NinjaTrader FXCM account in NinjaTrader™ and NinjaTrader FXCM’s Trading Station at the same time can cause oddities in both as they share the same API connection.
- For any order submitted during a prior trading session, NinjaTrader™ will be unable to determine if the order was filled or cancelled. As a result NinjaTrader™ will set this order to a state of “Unknown” on reconnect. It is your responsibility to call your broker to determine the true state of this order.
- OCO (One cancels other) orders are locally simulated on your PC. This means that NinjaTrader™ MUST be connected to your broker in order for the OCO capabilities to function. If you are disconnected and one of the OCO orders are filled, the other WILL NOT be cancelled.
- When trading CFDs though NinjaTrader FXCM, be mindful of the order quantity being submitted since it may be higher than you were expecting when incrementing its value.
- Volume shown from realtime data may yield higher expected values due to the decentralized nature of the price data feed.
- Duplicate executions may appear in NinjaTrader if an open position is older than 3 days ago.
