If you have any pending trades while Nadex is closed daily from 5-6pm est and price reaches a level on the underlying market sufficient enough to execute those trades, will this occur or is there a need for the platform to be open in order to execute pending trades?

Not sure what you mean. If nadex is closed then the spread/binaries are not open so the price is not changing therefore they can not be executed. Its not just the platform its the exchange that is closed from 5 pm to 6 pm. Any working orders where the price is hit upon the open will be filled if it at the price available at that time.
