Is it safe to say that if there isn’t an IC that has a qualifying minimum profit that there is not enough expected range to take a straddle instead generally?. I have demo traded straddles a few times in this situation with poor results and would like some feedback before wasting any more time proving what more experienced traders already know. Thanks.
Straddle when no available IC on news trade

That is a correct assumption. If an Iron Condor is recommended on the News Plan that is due to the news even not being a big expected move or a quick retrace expected so that is why we are not using straddles. But, then yes if you can not find a proper Iron Condor then you definitely do not want to do a straddle. You could possibly look for an iron butterfly. Be sure to demo test to see if the butterflies work out for you in those situations
