Trending market vs choppy market

Is there any way to know a market is probably going to be trending or choppy? I’m talking about determining this before it actually trades this way.

There is no way to determine this for sure ahead of time. A few things you can watch for though. If the markets have trended a lot overnight during the London session, at times they will be choppy for a bit right around open. Also watch the expected volume indicator, its not 100% the case but when you see volume exceeding it usually means there is action in the market, when you see it way way below expected can mean not much going on at times. Also, right before big news announcements you can expect the markets at times to kinda stall out waiting on the news, then perhaps go crazy after the announcement depending on the expectation of that news event.
