What type of news triggers major strikes in the Forex market

Hi Apex traders,

I am a new trader that’s trying out different strategies on the 5 minute binaries. One strategy I am currently trying out is buying deep in the money options for $20-$25 and $75-$80, and then getting out once the market gets to about $5 and $95. Since I am doing this type of strategy, I do not trade on the London session, I prefer the Asian session later on in the day, where there’s less spikes and violatility.

However, sometimes even the Asian session goes into extreme overbrought and oversold conditions, causing those deep in the money options to expire deep out of the money really fast. I’ve even seen them majorly switch directions in the last couple seconds.

My question is, what can I do to limit this? What type of news should I look for to avoid these spikes? Also, how long should I wait until I go back into the markets? Are these spikes even due to news? I always get out of the trades once they hit about $50, but since you cannot input a “stop loss” order on Nadex, sometimes the markets moves too fast, that I’m not able get out at $50 and end up losing way more money.

First, make sure you have the scanner downloaded and are using it. If you are trading ANY type of Nadex product you will need it. Makes things a lot less nerve racking.

This will show you how to “enter” a stop loss order for Nadex using the scanner

Also, it looks like there is a live webinar on Saturday the 16th at 1pm EST on how it works a well. If you can attend, that would be a great time to ask any questions as well (not that you cant ask them here in the forums of course  )

Really would look at the longer term binaries instead of the 5 minute ones… (1 -2 hour) Looking at some the ITM options… to get in around $80… you might have a 2 pip cushion… That leaves basically no room for error. There doesnt need to be any news for something to move that amount or more, knocking you out of the trade.

As for the news releases. http://www.forexfactory.com http://www.investing.com Both these sites are a good place to check for upcoming news and its importance.

Usually the biggest move will occur in first 30 minutes. Then it may reverse direction (if trading opposite of the news release) or it may continue to keep moving on in the same direction of the news release.
